To be ready to grow, as it's an illusion to start a real competition as a "lone warrior" and to minimize risks against the omnipresent legal threads.

Well, we let everybody participate in our revenues! For most of the users this kind of participation is probably more interesting than having access to source code.

The source code is not public for two reasons:

First: OpenSource is perfect when competing by a cost advantage with a commercial product on the same technological level (Linux, OpenOffice).
But it's not an good idea to hand over your technological advantage to a monopoly, when competing with its free service with enormous brand power.

The test is not public yet for two reasons:
First, in the beginning we wanted a controlled growth of the network, to test and improve our p2p-technology.
Second, while we are concentrating on testing the technology, the index size is not sufficient yet for the average searcher.

We will do an initial crawling first, to provide a good search experience from the beginning

Of course, I even tried it ;-) There is lot room for improvements though.
Have a look at altsearchengines.com. More than thousand start-ups are active within the search space.
Thousand chances to improve the search, both in quality and business model.

Isn't it better to make a living from an idea you believe in, than to work in a boring job and dream in your spare time only?

We are democratizing search, because in our user centred ranking every user get a vote for ranking, while previously only webmasters decided about the page rank.
This is not a matter of open or closed source.

As mentioned, there are a lot of Open and Closed Source solution already.
I believe what really matters is, who first succeeds in a search with competitive quality and speed AND democratic ranking and fair-minded business model.

- Why there is a company behing this (with a 25k € deposit called gmbh)?
- Why you dont publish your product open source and let everyone participate?
